a typeface with parkinson's disease

10 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson's Disease. The cause is unknown and it has no cure. But early diagnosis and treatment can slow the decline in quality of life.

One of the first signs of the disease is a change in handwriting.

To raise awareness and fund research, we created Shake, a typeface made from the real handwriting of a person living with Parkinson's Disease. All proceeds go to finding a cure.

My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's eight years ago. And her handwriting has changed in the years since. I created this font to preserve her handwriting, and enable her to continue to write with her own letters.

You can help preserve a loved one's handwriting. Print out the guide below, fill out all symbols and letters, and get in touch. You can also send an old note or letter, and we can create a font from the sample. All profits from this service also goes towards funding research on the subject.

Download these Instagram Stories posters to help spread the word.

Parkinson's Disease is a progressive disease. It will continue to get worse with time. In an attempt to capture its progression, I will release a version of the font annually.
